PURPOSE

CCM is a global leader in the hockey equipment industry, creating high-performing products and focusing on growing the game. To remain leaders, we need to have a strong vision and strategy to foster our innovation pipeline and design DNA. Reporting to the VP – Product Commercialization & Innovation, the Director – Innovation & Design purpose is to drive this vision and strategy within the entire product creation team by promoting strong collaboration and alignment between the teams. It is key to guide the direction and investment of the design and performance research focus, but also to extend our understanding of consumers and market trends to bring meaningful insights to the Advanced Design and Business Unit teams.  

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Create an inspiring vision and detailed strategy on how we will fuel our future growth.
  • Set a clear CCM DNA through our design language and direction.
  • Drive Innovation Pipeline & Strategic Investments
  • Present and promote our projects within the company.
  • Guide internal and external research to foster key insights to better meet player’s demands:
    • Build a network across different companies and universities.
    • Collaborate with key elite skill coaches + Pro team.
    • Be at the forefront of design and technology trends.
  • Manage priorities and deliverable according to the development cycle and business calendar, ensuring a successful hand-over to the commercialization teams.
  • Lead a high-performance Innovation Team by creating a culture of experimentation: failing fast and iterating on prototypes to validate our innovative concepts.
  • Collaborate with engineers, designers, and managers from the business units to ensure our innovation and design vision are shared, understood, and followed across all teams.

KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS

  • Master’s degree in industrial design or any related field.
  • A minimum of 15 years of related work experience. 
  • Have a relevant experience leading a team and influencing cross-functional teams.
  • The ability to assess risk and align key investments to drive performance across all categories.
  • The ability to lead and manage a team, prioritize projects, and allocate resources effectively.
  • The ability to effectively manage a budget with cross-functional implications.
  • The ability to synthesize information effectively and provide concrete recommendations and product guidance.
  • Project and time management skills, ensuring internal and external deadlines are adhered to.
  • Excellent verbal and visual communication/presentation skills (both at the ground floor and executive level).
  • Innovative attitude with a constant focus on future product innovation.
  • Collaborative mindset, pursuing cross function alignment of research priorities and projects.
  • Willingness and ability to travel.
